BW Beach Res/ BW Monterey Inn/ or Svensgaards Inn in Carmel?

We have got it narrowed down to three places that still have availability and are not overpriced for the last week in July. Has anyone stayed at any of these locations? Please help quick, my time is running out to make reservations. Any advice would be great! Thanks! Debbie

I can't help with the particular hotels but I can say that when I stayed in Monterey a couple years ago and then visited Carmel on my way out of town I could have kicked myself for not staying in Carmel. Carmel was beautiful and Monterey believe it or not seemed to have to much concrete and not enough trees. Good luck.

We've stayed at the beach resort many times. It's about a ten minute drive into Carmel but is located directly on the ocean. The rooms are small but the property is nice if you want to be right on the ocean. ***kim***

Having been to the area many times, I agree with eedwards' comparison above of the merits of staying in Carmel and Monterey. My favorite places to stay in the area are within a block or so of Svendsgaards, although I have never stayed at that particular inn myself. So I can say, at least, from walking by many times, that Svendsgaard's surroundings are wooded and very pleasant, and it is in a prime location to use as a base for walking in the heart of Carmel as well as down to the beach area. Someone recently posted a very positive account here of how Svendsgaard's desk had really gone the extra mile to help him out, but I can't find it now.

johncharles, the post was written by Rex and was called A Big Thumbs Up for Svensgaards Inn in Carmel. I'll try to top it for Deblyn.

Just got back and we stayed at the BW Beach Resort. We liked the hotel, especially for the beach location! While in Carmel, we checked out a few hotels, including the Svensgards. The Svensgards was nice and clean, but not very close to ocean or shopping. Many blocks to walk! The furnishings at Svensgards were outdated, so we decided to stay where we were at the BW Beach Resort up in Monterey and were glad we did. The boys loved it! They seen dolphins only 20 feet from shore, and a couple of whales about 50 yards out. We walked along the beach each morning. The only drawback was the drive. Thanks for all your help!

Glad you enjoyed the BW Beach Resort! I knew your boys would enjoy this property. It's cool being right on the ocean, isn't it? This is a great place for families. ***kim***
