Bus to Base from Hale Koa. ITT Worth The Trip?

Just wondering if anyone has taken the bus from the Hale Koa down to the base to purchase attraction tickets from the ITT office?

I got their ticket prices listings and it seems to be a significant cost savings to go down there to purchase the tickets for our attractions.

Just wondering if anyone has done this (specifically by bus since we don't plan on renting a car), how long it took and if they feel like it was worth spending X amount of time of their vacation doing it to save the $$. Thanks in advance.

Base? You mean Pearl? Hickam?

Sorry, no personal experience with this, but if you don't get an answer here, try Dirk Pepperd's discussion board. These military travelers know all.

By "base" I mean whichever one is closest and has an ITT where I can buy tickets.

Thanks Krista for the link, I'll check that out.

If anyone else knows, please reply.

Hickam would be geographically the closest and probably easier to get to than either Fort Shafter or Tripler.

They have some sort of ticket office right there at the Hale Koa. Call their toll free # and ask them -- they could probably give you some first-hand information on how to, where, and which is the closest.

Ditto what Budman said--there are outposts of all kinds of things from base at the Hale Koa--a small B/X, and a ticket office. We booked a couple of inter-island hops there. I don't think you'll need to hike all the way to base, but double-check with the HK.

The ticket/tour offices in the hotel are not associated with the military or the ITT. I asked the hotel a while back when booking the reservation. This is why I emailed the ITT and got the price list. It really does look significantly cheaper but we don't want to waste a lot of time or money getting there.

Anyway, my thanks to you all. I'll consult the military website a pp mentioned. Surely someone there has done it and can tell me if its worth it.
