Budget Restaurants in Las Vegas and airport transportation

Hi,
My daughter and I are off to Vegas in a few days. Neither of us have big appetites. Any suggestions for restaurants/eateries where we can get good food at prices that are not outrageous?

We are staying at the Monte Carlo. Would it make sense to take a shuttle/bus to the hotel or go by cab?

Thank you.

Jeff

My favorite is the buffet at the Golden Nugget. It is upstairs (escalator). Arrive and pay before 3PM for the best price.
At the tables over next to the wall you have a view of the swimming pool which has a slide that goes through a shark pool.
Hang around until after the light show at the Fremont Street Experience. The nugget near the check in desk is 62+ lb and is the largest on public display.

Happy Hours have good food deals. I think the website is lvhhtime.com

Also you can share appetizers, share an entrée, just about anywhere. Lots of menus are posted right outside the restaurant.

A cab is probably $5 more than a shuttle-for-two. Get a quote from the cabbie before you get into the cab, should be around $20 unless it is rush hour.

The Strip (and the Monte Carlo is on it) is not far from the airport. Easiest to cab, tons available.

What's an outrageous price? It's a bit like St. Thomas: you'll get what you pay for, and at a 25-40% premium for what you'd normally pay at home.

Interesting. I guess that depends a lot on where is home to you, and what you have at home. While there are some very expensive restaurants in Las Vegas, they compare in pricing to similar restaurants in any major city. And there are plenty of chains, which appear to me to be the same price as those same changes anywhere in the country. There are also some buffets that are actual bargains compared to most of the rest of the country. I've never felt I paid any "premium" for eating in Las Vegas, although admittedly I often spend more there simply because we choose more really high end restaurants -- mainly because we don't have those at home!

Hi All,
We have researched your suggestions and should have no trouble staying on a budget without experiencing starvation. Thank you so much for the assistance.
