Budget Queen and other Alaska experts...a question:

We're booked for a Vancouver-San Francisco Alaska cruise July 18, which I may have to try to change because of a health issue.

Same line offers a couple more sailing intineraries into September (5th). Wondering - weather-wise, if early September starts getting too cold for an enjoyable Alaska exploration? Or...any particular comments on sailing in August?

Thanks very much!!

Every year is unique. That being said, here in the S.E. you can definitely feel a change in the season mid-August on...that feeling that summer is waning. September is notoriously "iffy". If can be beautiful for a week at a time or miserable. It gets riskier the later in the month you go. My mom and dad had a great time in September, but they weren't on a cruise. Just come prepared for colder weather with layers, water-proof jackets and definitely hat and gloves.

Hope the health issues resolve.

I have done two alaska cruises in september. Although it is cooler, it was much less crowded and a very nice time to travel.
