Brooklyn Bridge walk

My daughter and I will be going to NYC for spring break in April. We are thinking of taking a walk across the Bklyn Bridge. A friend advised to take a water taxi, eat at Grimaldis, and walk back to Manhattan on the bridge. Would this be a fun thing for us to do? Is it fairly easy to take a water taxi, and easy to find the docking area?

Yes, it is a fun thing to do in nice weather. The water taxi is simple to use and it's easy to find the stops, we used it a few times last summer and I don't know if things were just a bit "off" or if it's always this way, but they don't exactly stick to the schedule! One day we spent a lot of time waiting for the boat to appear at the pier to pick us up, and then after a stop or to (can't remember exactly) they pulled into the Seaport stop (after an interesting 25 minute stop in Red Hook) and announced that they would not be continuing on to Brooklyn at that time, but maybe in an hour or so (!). We had fun though, and the boats were very clean. Here's some more info: http://www.nywatertaxi.com/nywt.aspx?s=com

Water taxi service resumes May 1, so that won't be an option. But, you can take the subway in one direction if you don't want to walk both ways. It's a great walk, so definitely be sure to do it if the weather allows.

Careful where you rest your hand during a photo op. I was seriously greased by the BB. How could I forget my Mama's gently warnings to look where I was putting my hands? Must have been the spectacular view distracting me.

We walked the Brooklyn Bridge at sunset last November. It was a beautiful day and a beautiful sunset. There were lots of people walking the bridge that evening.

we went to Brooklyn by subway (also visited the Transit Museum) and then walked across. THere are signs from the subway station to guide you to the bridge
