BRONX-How safe to visit

PLANNING TO VISIT NY IN OCTOBER-HOW SAFE IS IT FOR TOURISTS TO WALK AROUND THE BRONX

Where are you planning to go? The Bronx is a very diverse area.

As Dawn said above, Bronx is huge and very diverse, so it all depends on where you want to be. It is safe to go to a game at Yankee Stadium no matter what anybody tells you. Trip to Bronx Zoo is also safe during day hours. However, Bronx has alot of shady neigborhoods, that are very deserted filled with warehouses and such. I wouldn't go there unless I have to. In general, big attractions are safe, Riverdale is fine, avoid South Bronx, especially after dark.

I realize that but that wasn't my point. I think people should see there is much more to NYC than just Manhattan and that steering away from the traditional tourist sites may be more fun for some.
