Wondered if there's a BroadwayBox/Playbill type method of discount for Met Opera tickets? Haven't been yet after our many trips to NYC, and thought that might make it a more reasonable approach ... Thanks!

As a long term Met subscriber... have never heard of any discounts... sigh.....
Altho, there are $20 tickets available.... at least there were just recently...
but I'm afraid I've forgotten how they're accessed. The sound in the house
is great.... so anywhere you sit is fine. And if you're "up there' you can always
bring opera glasses. -

Not exactly what you asked, but I did get an email from Theatremania. If you book any Met Tickets on the Metropolitan Opera site, enter code ONEG1 and you get a free glass of champagne per ticket. I just booked tickets for February and did get that. Not a huge concession, but at least it's something.

Neo, I've seen that offer in the past- didn't think it was much of a deal, but if there are no discounts, then yes- better than not having it!

Wondering what section you get tickets for?

This time I got Balcony -- next to the uppermost level, but front row and not on the sides. I find that if I'm in the front row of any of the upper four sections I'm happy. These were for a matinee of Die Fledermaus. They were $119 each I think.

The front (and second) row balcony seats are the best bang for the buck in the house. In fact, the acoustics are better than that of many higher priced seats. Lots of music students agree. Price has been going up though.

Could either of you/anyone describe the leg room? Hubby is 6'2" so for Bway shows, for example, if we can't get an aisle we usually just won't go!

nvl325, I wish I could help. Leg room is often an issue for me, but I'm 6' tall, not 6'2. I have never been uncomfortable in the front rows at the Met, so I guess it isn't bad. Sometimes I'd suggest not a front row so you could put your feet under the seat in front of you, but actually the Met has such "stepped" seating, that I don't think that's possible at all. I fully understand your desire for an aisle. I love those but worry that someday in the dark someone's going to trip over my feet which are always out in the aisle.
