Broadway Theater

What would be appropriate for dress code to a matinee or to an evening performance on Broadway, first trip to New York City and don't want to overpack if we can help it.

These days, anything goes. Best bet is to dress for wherever you're going before or after. Comfortable footwear is essential. You never know when you'll have to walk a few blocks.

I usually go with "smart casual", but you will see everything from suits & evening dresses to blue jeans. If you are out for the day, I would just go to the theater in your sight seeing clothes; it really isn't necessary to bring fancy things with you. Pack light & have a great time!

Don't forget that it can be chilly in the theater, also. I always bring a light jacket or sweater.
