Broadway recommendations?

We are making a weekend of seeing Cal's last game and are interested in hearing "reviews" of what you have seen on Broadway; having "scored" for the baseball game, we have given up on the Producers and wonder how Proof is? or anything else you'd like to recommend for Saturday night. . .

thanks in advance,

Mary

P.S. Will appreciate pre-theatre restaurant recommendations, as well.

I'm sure most people are going to recommend the old standards like Aida or the Lion King, but assuming that you like big splashy musicals, I'd recommend Music Man for anyone or Rocky Horror Show if you want something with a bit of an edge.

Proof is excellent, with some of the best performances I've seen; you can't go wrong with it.

Another solid endorsement of Proof. Jennifer Jason Leigh takes over for Mary-Louise Parker sometime in September. She should be very good in the part. Another recommended straight play is Stones in His Pockets.
For musicals: Cabaret, Chicago, Contact, The Full Monty or Kiss Me Kate.

"The Producers" is the best musical comedy I've ever seen. "Proof" is an absolutely excellent drama -- I loved it. I also HIGHLY recommend "Contact," "The Lion King," and "Les Miserables." I enjoyed "Stones in His Pockets," "Cabaret," and "The Full Monty," but not nearly as much as "Proof" or "Contact."

I think we'll go with Proof--thanks for taking the time to respond. If you have a favorite spot to eat near that theatre, we'd love to hear about it.

Thanks again,

Mary

I took my wife to see Kiss Me Kate last week and it was great! This was our first Broadway Musical and it is a play within a play. You can get 50% off tickets at the TKTs booths and there is parking 1/2 block from the theater for quick exit after the show..
