Broadway--Help!
Have seen many productions on Broadway (Jersey Boys, Drowsy Chaperone, Legally Blonde, Mary Poppins, Wicked, etc.)
Which of the more recent productions can you recommend? Haven't seen Spring Awakening, but tickets might be a problem. Any other recommendations? Timing would be November 9-11, 2007.
Thanks!!!

Recently I saw the revival of A Chorus Line and enjoyed it. Have you seen The 25th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee? One other show you can check out however, I am not sure when it will arrive on Broadway and that is In The Heights. It is a transfer show from Off Bway and it is wonderful.
Good luck.

I haven't seen Spring Awakening but gather the younger you are, the more you like it. Agree there shouldn't be a problem with tickets. It's usually at the TKTS booth. Xanadu is supposed to be great fun (fluff). If it doesn't have to be a musical, what about Pygmalion? I know a number of people who've been surprised at how much they enjoyed the Color Purple.

August: Osage County at the Imperial Theatre. Saw this in Chicago at Steppenwolf and it's wonderful. Didn't know if you were thinking more along the lines of musicals, but had to throw this recommendation out there -- a superb play, and very funny. YOu'll be glad you saw it!

dmlove - I saw Little Mermaid on one of its last nights in Denver. I was not that impressed. I had seen Lion King on Broadway and was absolutely dazzled. This didn't come anywhere close, so unless they've made a few changes since I saw it, I don't recommend it that highly.
The best part of it was all the little girls dressed up in their Ariel costumes--and one little boy with a Hawaiian shirt with crabs on it.

Haven't heard anything about Cyrano, but it's a limited run, so tickets might be hard to come by. For other plays, I'm looking forward to Rock 'n' Roll, which just started previews.
It's a bad year for musicals, so there might not be much out there that you haven't already seen. I'd second the recommendation for Spelling Bee, if you haven't caught that one yet.

My 16 yr old daughter wanted to go to NY to see some musicals for her birthday so we let her choose what she wanted to go see - Wicked, Rent, Avenue Q and Spring Awakening. She really enjoyed all of them. We just went last week and got tickets for Spring Awakening about a month ago.
