Breckenridge, Telluride

Is anyone familiar with any cheap hotels in Breckenridge? Has anyone been to Telluride? I would like to go to Telluride but the flights there are much more expensive, does anyone know a cheaper way to get there?

For Telluride, fly into Montrose, take a ski shuttle/bus to Telluride (or rent a car). This might not make it much cheaper, but aside from being pricey to fly directly into Telluride, the Telluride airport is notorious for being closed for weather related reasons....if you check out any ski packages, 99% of them will route you through Montrose and hook you up with a shuttle or car.

Cheaper - but not cheap - lodging for Breckenridge & the Summit County area can be found in Frisco & Dillon. There is bus service to the resorts. Also found this: www.firesideinn.com in Breckenridge, which has dorm rooms if you want to go that cheap.

Sometimes package deals for airfare, hotel, & lift tickets can be a good deal - check out, for example www.ski.com

Good luck and have fun - those are both great mountains!

Do not have any info on Telluride but for Breck look at http://denver.craigslist.org/vac search "keyword" Breckenridge, lots of woner direct condos.
I stayed years ago at the fireside inn it is ok if you are travelling solo. Also http://www.alpenhutte.com if you're interested in skiing more than Breck, it is close to Copper, Keystone and Breck. Also the http://www.summitnet.com/wayside is pretty resonable more like a motel though.
You can also get dicounted lifts tickets at denver area grocery stores.

Thanks for the Replies! I think I will save Telluride for after I graduate law school and can afford to do it right. I am going to keep it simple on this trip and go to Breck and stay in Frisco to save money. The flights to Denver are so cheap I cannot rationalize not taking advantage of that.

Thanks for the web sites! They have really been helpful in my trip planning!
