Breck for Christmas, is this to much??
i'm trying to plan a Christmas vac. without over doing it. let me give u our layout & shoot me straight, good or bad. arrive DIA 10am Dec 22 arrive Breck 3 hours later. Get settled in & walk town & maybe ice skate. day 2- Goodtimes adventure 9am for dog sledding & snowmobile. day 3- snow tubing (not sure where yet) & enjoy town of Breck.Day 4 Christmas Day travel to Vail if weather permits, return to Breck later for Sleigh Ride and Dinner. Day 5- last day open. Is this to much for Christmas Week in Breckenridge? Thanks so much for your opinions. john

I don't see any problems with your schedule....Keystone Resort has a tubing area and is pretty close to Breckenridge. The drive is over a mountain pass that might be tricky in bad weather, but if it's clear, it's no problem. They also may have a bus between the 2 ski areas. Vail has a really cool tubing area with lots of different slides and activities. It may not be open everyday, but during Christmas they might be....I think both places require reservations, especially during that time of year.

It looks good, just be sure to book your activities well ahead. I'm not sure what mountain pass mollmatt is talking about. It's a pretty straight shot from Breck to Keystone. You do have to go over Vail Pass to get to Vail but, if roads are open, it's not a problem.

I am sure Mollmatt was referring to Swan Mt. road around the east of Lake Dillon. It does have a little climb to it and, for someone from Florida, I am sure it seemed like a mountain pass. That can be avoided by going through Frisco and Dillon.
There is nothing wrong with your proposed activities EXCEPT I would be a little concerned with finding five nights of lodging. Traditionally at that time of year nearly everyone requires 7 nights especially in Breck. Less so in places like Frisco or Dillon.
The Summitt Cty bus will take you between Keystone, Copper, and Breck but it is not direct. It all hubs through Frisco. And Copper has a nice tubing hill and would provide easier access than Vail. The big drawback to Vail at that time of year are the crowds and expensive parking. At the moment Copper and Keystone are still free BUT that could change tomorrow. I would not over look Frisco as a place to center your activities especially since you are not skiing. Christmas Day can be pretty quiet with min things open.

Aha! Swan Mt. road! I guess since I lived at Copper Mt. for nearly four years,I never gave it any thought as being troublesome...the difference a local and being from the sunshine state.
I would also suggest you look at Frisco or even Copper Mt. You'll find all the activities you mentioned at Copper and Frisco is the shuttle hub for Summit county.
I just got back from Vail and they are considering increasing the already expensive day parking rate.
