Breakfast near I70 west of Denver
We land in Denver early Saturday morning, will be driving to Breckenridge, and need to stop for breakfast along the way, probably closer to Denver than Breck. We don't want to add to our travel time, so would like someplace quite close to I70. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Definitely grab breakfast before you leave town, or you will have a long wait. Unless you want to drive a ways before eating, and stop in a mountain spot like Evergreen? The historic El Rancho restaurant there is nice, and they have a Sunday brunch from 9- noon. Otherwise, they have an "all-day menu":

Maybe your best bet is to stop at a hotel along I-70, or there are places right near the airport.
What time of day are you thinking?

It doesn't look like El Rancho serves breakfast.
By the time we get our luggage and the rental car, it will probably be close to 9 AM before we get to the west side of Denver. We'll have been up since 3:30 AM, and I will definitely be ready to eat!

If you haven't eaten since 3:30a.m., you might want to get breakfast before you get on I-70, or even eat at the airport itself.
There are lots of hotels near the airport which would have restaurants:

There are plenty of places to pull off of I70 around Wadsworth or such for a quick breakfast. Or just stop in the airport and eat. But if you get much past Wadsworth (if I recall correctly) you'll be eating in Idaho Springs which IS an easy on and off of I70.

We don't want to eat at the airport and we definitely don't want a fast food breakfast.
We've eaten at the Village Inn in Wheat Ridge before--was just looking for something different.
gretchen, what are some of the breakfast places in Wadsworth?

Here is a great local breakfast place, on your way out of the airport, Moonlight Diner (http://www.moonlightdinerdenver.com/....php?pagenum=1)
You drive out of the airport towards I-70 but take the Tower Road exit. After breakfast, continue on Tower Road to get to I-70. Easy access and a good meal!

There's a La Peep or some such in the airport--on the mezzanine above the security maze.
don't know specifics around Wadsworth but there is a big shopping area and a Costco there. At least a Red Robin.

tekwriter, thanks for suggesting the Moonlight Diner--it was exactly the kind of place we were looking for, and the location was perfect. DH had the banana bread French toast, which was delish, and I had a veggie egg white omelet, which was just what I wanted.
