Branson Thanksgiving Week?

Is the week of Thanksgiving a good or bad time to visit Branson? How's the hotel by the name of Whispering Hills? Thanks for any information.

Thanksgiving will not be as crowded as the summer. Have always stayed at Stillwaters Resort. Table Rock is beautiful. Enjoy!!

In my opinion Chateau on the Lake is the nicest place to stay in Branson. They have a very nice Sunday brunch.

We just got back from Branson...Be sure and see the Jim Stafford show...seats are uncomfortably small but the show is excellent!! If you like bluegrass music, see the Rodney Dillard Show at the 76 Theater. He was one of the Darlin's on the Andy Griffith show. The music was great (gospel, bluegrass) and the members of the show have a real rapport with each other..you can tell they're having fun doing the show. Don't bother with the Remember When show..absolutely not worth the time and money. We saw the "Country Tonite" show...it was okay but too slick for us. The traffic is awful..be sure and give yourself lots of time to get to the shows. Also, watch for $$ off coupons in the books found in all hotel lobbies and restaurants. If you want excellent prime rib, go to Kimberling City and eat at the "Bearded Clam"...sure not fancy but the prime rib was the best we have ever had ($12.95). We took a tour through the dam ($3.00) and fish hatchery (free)...very interesting! Also go to the winery...free taste testing! Don't bother with the train tours...can't see much except trees and rocks along the way. Wear good walking shoes as there isn't a level spot in the entire town...everything is uphill or downhill!!

I haven't been to Branson and don't particularly want to. Nothing I've heard about it makes me want to go line up with thousands of tourists fighting to get into second rate country western shows. It just sounds too "wholesome" family values for me. But I can not believe there is a place called "The Bearded Clam" is such a place that promotes family values. Am I the only one who thinks that is funny, or is that nickname only known by college guys from the 70's?

Been to Branson a lot. Chateau on the Lake is absolutely gorgeous, but not as convenient to attractions as others. We usually stay at the Palace Inn, which is right beside the Grand Palace. Very nice hotel. They also have family suites. Branson also has some very good outlet stores. Thanksgiving will be crowded, but they have built a lot of new roads, so you are not stuck on 76 to get through town like you were in the past. Get a city map and you'll be able to get around fairly easy. Silver Dollar City is fun if you've never been, and they have several free shows in the park.
