Branson, MO

My husband and I (45+) are visiting Branson for the first time this September. Can you recommend a moderately priced hotel near the theatres? What are the best shows?

We have a son who goes to summer camp in the Branson area and during closing ceremonies we spend a week-end every summer in Branson. With that being said we stumbled across a wonderful bed and breakfast that is centrally located. The breakfast are absolutely wonderful. The name is The Bradford House 888/488-4445.

Shepherd of the Hills play is terrific! It is great for adults and kids alike. It is a classic Ozark play with lots of live action including horses charging in, fistfights, shootouts and a building set afire. Kids are included by participating in a frog jumping contest. It was very interesting and exciting. During the intermission, spectators are invited and included in a squaredance, and lots of children were included by one of the actors in a 'follow me' type dance. A great evening- not to be missed

SHepherd of the Hills is NO WHERE near the theatres.

Traffic is a bear..there must be 100 hotels/motels on the strip. YOu really can't go wrong with any property on the strip, if you want something near the theatres.

You want the Bradford Inn. There are a couple other Bradford B&B, but the Bradford Inn is the really nice one with the great breakfasts. We have been to Branson many times. If you want to email me and tell me what you are looking for in more detail, I will be happy to help you.

Make sure to see the Shoji Tabuchi show. It is the number one show in Branson and a definate must see. While you are there make sure to check out the restrooms. Over $1 million dollars were spent on each.

Be sure not to miss a lunch or dinner cruise on the Branson Bell Showboat. Do a search for Silver Dollar City and they have a link. If you do both, they have discounts. Check out the Grand Palace website (grandpalace.com). The "biggest stars" play there. Also, do a search for Missouri state tourism. They will send you a state guide that include accommodations in Branson with coupons in the back. We are in our early thirties and went with our parents and our small child. It was a great family vacation and will now be a yearly trip. We stayed at a resort, however there were many good hotel deals posted throughout town. Good luck.

i go there a couple times a year on business. I personally am not fond of the obvious tourist trap feel to it,but it's in a nice area and at least their shows are clean. You might try Priceline. I had great success with them a couple times there. Sept. may be a tough time to get a PL bid accepted, but it's worth a try.
