Boston vs. NY?

I grew up in NYC and lived there for a while after college but then transferred to my company's Boston office. I have been living here for 11 years and would (probably) never move back to NYC.
Don't get me wrong, NYC is a wonderful place and is the most exciting city on earth, but as another poster put it, you need awfully thick skin to live there ("sidewalk rage" captures it perfectly). NYC can be extremely frustrating. Boston is much much smaller but offers almost everything NYC does, only on a more human scale. I can understand why NYers think Boston is provincial - after all, what city on earth is not when compared to NY?
NYC is also huge and you will likely feel the need to escape on weekends (hence the weekly pilgrimage to places like the Hamptons and the Jersey Shore). Boston does not make you feel claustrophobic.
Also, despite what another poster said about Boston's being cold, NYC and Boston have almost identical weather. Boston may be a degree or two colder on any given winter day and we may be snowing here when it is sleeting in NY, but they are virtual weather twins.

Are people nuts?New York is the best and the most interesting city in the world.Yes,its expensive but so is Boston.New York offers many more job choices with much higher wages. If you are looking for that small town feeling then you should choose Boston and its suburbs.

Well, I say ask your company could you move to Dallas, Chicago, Baltimore, or Philly. Much, much lower (except for chi-town, its a little pricey) with all the animenities of a big city. For me, nyc, sf, boston, d.c. suck. That's why many people have moved to the south and west.
