boston suggestions
my son and i are going to boston this summer to take in some red sox games (been a fan since i was a little boy and never been to fenway so this is a pilgrimage of sorts!)and do a little sight seeing. wonder if i could get some hotel tips from the boston experts. will be flying in so won't have a car...access to the T, relatively close to fenway and within walking distance of some things to do are important. love to keep the cost in the $150 a night range -- give or take. so...any hotel, restaurant and activity suggestions? by the way my son is 16 so no "little kid" issues. i know i'm asking for a lot here...thanks for any ideas or advice you have for me.

Back Bay/Copley area is convenient to many tourist activities and to stops on the T (subway) to go to Fenway etc.
You can get great hotel deals thru Priceline; if you're not familiar with it, read up at their site and at www.biddingfortravel.com

Sheraton Boston has some great rates-
for a 21 day adv purchase, we were finding $139 nite vs $205 regular rates-yet someone else posted on this board that the Sheraton was able to be had for around $55 ( just not the weekend I needed it in May-which was college graduation)...
The Sheraton Boston is also located in the Back Bay next to the Prudential Center and next to Copley Sq...so try this hotel also on Priceline....

Priceline doesn't offer specific hotels -- you choose a neighborhood and a star quality rating, make an offer and they see if ANY such hotel room is available. If there is, you've bought it. These terms are what enables them to give such good prices.

Hope you already have Red Sox tickets - or else buy them ASAP. Games against good opponents are almost gone, and availability for other games is getting limited. Don't sit in sections 3,4,5 - (that is where most tickets are likely to be at this point) - even the bleachers are better.

My boyfriend and I did this last summer. Stayed at the Doubletree (considered backbay on Priceline) which was right on the T. I think we won our bid for $70 per night.
Had no trouble getting to or from the game and had a fantastic time!!!
