BabyDoll, have you checked the resources right here at Fodors? Or, how about www.citysearch.boston.com
Best of the best is L'Espalier. Note that "comfy jeans" are not acceptable.

Any Legals Seafood; Fire and Ice (Boston and Harvard Square); No Name on the docks for seafood; Elephant Walk (Porter Sq and Brookline); Red Bones (BBQ Davis Sq, Somerville); Bay Tower room for romance and view of the harbor; Anything along Newbery St and in the North End; The Naked Fish (several locations).
Boston has many great restaurants of different ethnic origins and price ranges.
A lot depends on where you are at the time. many Boston restaurants do not take reservations so be prepared to wait (at the bar) or go before 6pm. The more "upscale" restaurants like Bay Tower Room will take rexervations.
Good luck

Go to Raidus, perfect for a special night out. Food is outstanding, one of the best meals you'll have while here. Very expensive, but worth it. Also, you might consider Hamersley's Bistro, Mistral, Casa Romero for Mexican, Grill 23 for great steaks, Pignoli for Italian, and Legal Seafood for fish, a must while here.

Lorri's on the right track except for Legal Seafoods--food is decent, but still a tourist trap. Been to several and can't stand the noise or the feeling you are being rushed. There are better places for seafood in Boston, I'm sure. Being from the North Shore I don't need to travel to Boston for good seafood, but others in this forum can give you other places to go in the city.
