When we were there in April, we just walked through the Back Bay area and just stopped at random at this Italian restaurant that had a wonderful smell emanating from it. Absolutely wonderful pasta. I can't remember the name, but it doesn't matter. I'll do the same thing next time and see what I find, one of the joys of travelling. God bless America

Someone mentioned Hamersley's. My wife and I went there for our 7th anniversary several weeks ago and I can honestly say that this was the BEST meal I have ever had. We had been intending to go to Hamersley's for years, but Botson has become a huge foodie town and new restaurants pop up all the time and we never got around to it. I loved it so much, I almost wanted to post a thread about it here the day after we dined there.
The service was impeccible. The food, superb (the seared tuna with garlic aioli was unbelieveable). The atmosphere is Provencal in nature (light yellow walls, iron chandeliers, "french" floral patterned banquettes in the main dining room); very romantic.
I wish I had another special occasion to celebrate, for if I did, Hamersley's would be the restaurant of choice.

I used to eat at Durgin-Park restaurant when I worked in Boston in the early 1960's. Went back to Boston on vacation last year and ate there again. The place has been in business for over 100 years and the food is outstanding. Great sea food and prime rib. The Indian Pudding dessert with a scoop of vanilla ice cream is delicious. Very different. It's located downtown near Faneuil Hall.
