We are two olds from Downunder travelling with our daughter and her boyfriend. Our journey starts in Boston and we have decided to attend a Red Sox v. NY Yankees game.
After viewing "Fever Pitch" there is no way we are going 'underdressed' and are looking forward to buying Red Sox caps, T-shirts and possibly jackets!!

Where is the best place to buy - at Fenway Park or from somewhere in the city? Any suggestions.

There is a huge store chock full of Red Sox regalia right at Fenway Park.

Agree with Howard. The store on Yawkey Way is huge. It will be quite expensive but worth it.

Do you already have tickets for the game? If not, they are sold out / will be excessively high off of stubhub, etc.

Hi, Jenny62 ! The Fenway-area stores will be convenient for you, but more expensive, as others have stated. Some additional options---if you are sightseeing around town, you'll see Sox items being sold everywhere, e.g., vendors on Boston Common. Prices will be lower, but merchandise won't necessarily be "official" MLB [Major League Baseball] product, if that matters to you. [ personally, I don't mind having some of the cheaper hats, for example, so that I can afford to buy more colors ! ]

Downtown Crossing, just 2 blocks over from the Common, has street kiosks with a good selection of items. And if you follow Washington St. down the hill from there, you'll find more vendors in the Quincy Market area.

You should be excited, our downunder friend! There's no place like Fenway Park, surrounded by city streets with the history echoing in it's cement depths, hard uncomfortable seats, the green monster....and you know what team to route for!!!

We like our Harpoon IPA beer or snacks from the gated outdoor Yawkey Way. It's so festive to be on a private street just outside the park~ Although tossing of food into the stands and passing money back and forth down the line has a certain something - how you say - about it! Beware the peanut toss - I prefer my peanuts unsalted. Don't miss doing the wave - it took me being in a half empty big ballpark to appreciate this annoyance and celebrate it. And don't miss Sweet Carolynne - wo wo wo, another annoyance but only a crotchety curmugeonne would frown!

Buy cheap tshirts at kiosks on the streets at park square and around town, or in Macy's or Marshalls perhaps. The authentic official MLB stuff should be purchased on sight in all its hectic glory and prices.

Let me know when you are going. You just never know. Perhaps we might meet you in Yawkey way and buy you a beeeeaahh!

How are the Maine plans coming along. Plenty of great people here with lots of great ideas on nice roads to drive!

We would love to spend more time in Maine and the surrounding area but time restraints make our time limited. We are spending a few days in Boston, then driving down to Phili and on to Washington before heading back up to NY. The reason for our being in the States is our son's wedding in NY but we could not just do NY hence Boston, Phili and Washington.

Love the idea of autumn and lobsters in that part of the country, the beautiful coast line and driving further inland ..... but we will be back.
