Hi, everyone - my husband and I are interested in using our Marriott points to stay in Boston in the fall. Since there are several locations, could you recommend if there's one in particular that's nice and in a good location for tourists? Do any of them have a nice view of the water? Thanks for any help you can provide.

I agree, make Long Wharf your choice, on the water and less than 5 minutes to walk to Quincy Market and North end.

Spring summer fall, I like to be on the water, however if you are a couple that works out and uses the facilities, I think Marriott Copley did a major gym/spa refurbishment a year or two ago. Either of those two choices are great for a comped room and both are well located to different areas of the city. As perspective to walk from one to the other is about 1/2 hour stroll thru Boston.

They are both lovely. I prefer the Copley location. While I love the North End, I am not a huge fan of the Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market area and if I wanted to step out of my hotel and be more centrally located to things I would choose Copley - closer to the Prudential Skywalk, the Duck Tours, Commonwealth Ave, Newbury St, Boylston, Copley Place shops, Boston Public Library, Boston Public Garden, the South End, Charles Street and the Charles River Esplanade, and more

If you want a view of the water, that changes everything but when I am traveling to a city like Boston (where I am) I am not spending time looking out my window at water like I want to on an island vacation or 'restful' type trip. - but this is personal preference only.

However, I will eat in the North End and walk home which is close to Marriot Copley, so it is not long but 30 min is a good time frame -

I suppose to me it would depend on what you want to do = if you said you want to do a Duck Tour, see the view from the Skywalk Observatory, see the MFA or Isabella Stewart Gardner, do the Freedom Trail and have at least one dinner int he North End, I'd stay int he Copley location -

If you want to do more harbor tours, if you are early enoughin the fall for them, or take the ferry to salem or elsewhere, and eat more than once in the north end, or spend more of your time there, then that is different.

As it turns out, the Marriott Copley only has double beds available for that time period, so we went with Long Wharf. Thanks again for the help. Long Wharf looks great.

You'll have a wonderful time - we actually met friends staying there for drinks this past Tues night and walked to the North End for dinner - and if you walk, you can cut thru Faneuil Hall and get to the Boston Common/BPl area and if not, you are a the waterfront T stop and I'm sure the concierge can give you everything else you need ! if you want to try and plan some distances from home - useful pp are mbta.com and hoptstop.com and any of the mapqeust/google type sites as well

Thanks, escargot; I was actually leaning toward Copley because it seems to be closer to the tourist spots as you mentioned, but availability made our decision for us. Our recent vacations have been Hawaii and Costa Rica; this is our first "city" vacation in a long while, so still having a water view will be nice for us. My husband is thrilled that the North End is known for its Italian restaurants - think we'll be sampling a few of those.

Both Marriotts are good for different reasons.
Long Wharf is on the water near the North End.

Back Bay location is very good too--close to Copley Square shopping (two separate but connected malls) and Newbury Street shopping.
