Boston Hotels

I am going to be in Boston in early August. Any thoughts on a hotel that is near Long Wharf as I will be getting the ferry to Provincetown?
Thanks

Check out the Marriott Long Wharf, Marriott Custom House (timeshare but they rent too), Boston Harbor Hotel, Le Meridian (which has a new name which escapes me at the moment), Millenium Bostonian, Wyndam on Broad Street (not its name but again my memory..) All are walking distance to Long Wharf. Wyndam is probably the most reasonable.

Le Meridien is now the Langham. Forget Millennium Boston (gone WAY downhill in every way). The Harborside Inn would also be conveniently located.

We stayed at the Harborside Inn a couple of years ago and were not impressed. It is a GREAT location, but the hotel itself left alot to be desired. You are basically paying for the location - the rooms are small and very tired looking, plus the staff does not pride itself on customer service.

Downtown Boston (as opposed to Back Bay) is all within walking distance of Long Wharf. The Parker House has smallish rooms but is a nice experience and often available on Priceline.

I am going to Boston for the 4th of July. Any ideas as to where the best fireworks are?

I like to sit right along the Charles. But be ready for some serious crowds.

Can any of you tell me what other hotels are within a block or so of the Hyatt Regency Boston, (which is at One Avenue De Lafayette)? I am looking for a lower cost alternative. Thanks!
