Boston History Geek Hotel
Greetings All,
As a history geek who's never been to Boston, what hotel/ area of hotels will put me where I want to be to walk through Boston's history?
(planning for late March to early April)
Thanks all!

We stayed in the Boston Omni Parker House Hotel which overlooks part of the Freedom Trail, not all rooms have views of it, although I was VERY lucky and did have a gorgeous room at the front of the hotel. It's quite a famous hotel and John F Kennedy proposed to Jacqui in the restaurant there.

The central part of Boston is pretty compact so staying anywhere between Back Bay/Copley Square and the Waterfront area will be convenient for your sightseeing. You can walk between both areas in less than an hour, more like a half hour, and the public transportation "T" will easily get you around the city.
The Parker House is a good suggestion and central. Check Travelzoo, for some good special winter rates there. (Though I don't know when you are planning your trip.)

At that time of year you might catch a good deal on Priceline - using Downtown, Copley as zones. Hoping you are aware that late March/early April weather is usually all that pleasant for walking in Boston. The rest of the country calls this time of year Spring, but it is often still winter here - and if not, can be cold, raw, slushy.
And referencing back to your other thread about renting a car - you might want to take a day trip to Lexington/Concord- and for that trip you will want a rental car for the day.

Monday April 16th is Patriots Say 2012, which means Boston Marathon weekend. So as Ackislander mentions, it will be crowded and hotel prices will be high. Hopefully you are planning earlier than that.
