Boston/Cambridge hotels

We're looking at staying at 1 of 3 Howard Johnson hotels, one in Memorial Drive, Cambridge, one in Commonwealth Ave and one in Boylston St. We won't have transport. Which one is best, walking distance to T line, attractions, restaurants, etc? Any other suggestions?

Thanks for your help.

I'm staying at the MidTown on Huntington and being close to the "T" is better

If you want a treat ($$$ though) stay at the Charles Hotel in Cambridge. It's a modern, clean, safe and friendly hotel right in the heart of Harvard Square. Two blocks away from the T. Last time we were there, we found out that VP Al Gore spent the night the same weekend. Excellent restaurants -, Julia Childs frequents often.

Agree with above posts, check out the Midtown (very nice and right next to the Symphony subway stop) or the Charles Hotel. Either way, you'll be much better located!

not familiar with the exact locations of any hotels you mentioned. there is a holiday inn in somerville
which has an indoor pool and a restaurant. it is in
walking distance to public transportation ,the "t". or you can take a taxi the short way to the station.

Give the Holiday Inn at 1200 Beacon St Boston a try. The "T" stops right across the street.

Highly recommend the Double Tree Guest Suites in Cambridge, but on the Boston side of the Charles River. An easy walk or drive across the river to Harvard Square, and a free shuttle to various sites in boston every half hour. Also, the Ho Jo's on Boylston is very convenient to everything.
