Blue Ridge Parkway-Tennessee side
How does one get from the Tennessee side to the NC Carolina side of the Blue Ridge Parkway? We only want to go about 1/4 of the way, but we'd like to drive on it and see the foliage this Oct 24. Thanks.

The Blue Ridge Parkway is not in TN -- it is in NC & VA. If you start in Cherokee, NC & head North you could time yourself from there. See www.nps.gov.

Connie, thank you. I meant to say how do I get to the BRP from the Smoky Mountains. Thanks. Your reply is right on.
My apologies.

The Blue Ridge Parkway is not in Tennessee, but to reach it, you can take US 441 (known as the Newfound Gap Road) from Gatlinburg, it's about a 40 mile trip. The southern terminus of the BRP intersects with US 441 just west of Cherokee, NC near the Oconaluftee Visitor's Center. It's well marked so you should have no trouble finding it.
It is a beautiful drive northbound from US 441, especially in fall.
