Blakely....have you stayed recently?

Have you stayed recently at The Blakely New York? Would it be a good location to stay for a couple/16 year son that plan to see NY City top tourist sites? We are planning to visit in August and going in circles on hotel choice! Thanks..

I completely understand what you mean about circles! I was there last spring planning our family's trip during spring break. Mclaurie on this forum highly recommended this property and it was perfect for our needs.

This is a small hotel with a very friendly staff. I'm from the Deep South and I even let my two children go downstairs by themselves and use the computer in the lobby!! The staff knew all of our names within minutes and was very accommodating...getting reservations, etc.

We requested a bedroom with two queens which gave us more room but your son really could sleep in the separate sitting/tv room. We enjoyed taking advantage of the kitchenette with left-overs from the neighborhood restaurants...very affordable and most deliver though picking up something on the way back to the hotel after a busy day was easy. The bathroom was very large and updated with nice towels and bath products. The location is perfect and very close to Central Park and the subway. The hotel staff even taught us how to use the subway system!!!

Enjoy! This is a great property!

Found this post by accident. Yes, the Blakely is terrific. You have the option of one large room with 2 beds or a 1 bedroom suite with a day bed in the living room for your son if you want some more privacy. If you decide on this, make sure to compare the prices on the hotel's own site (blakelyhotelny.com) vs quikbook.com

The Doubletree Guest Suites in Times Square is another good suite option but will likely to more expensive, although you'd have great views.

Another option I forgot is to find a rental at the Manhattan Club, a timeshare place a few blocks north of the Blakely, a bit closer to Central Park. Also nice.
