Blacksburg: Family trip (included dogs)..need help with cabin rentals!!!
I'm planning a trip with my dad, husband, brother, and sister-in-law to Blacksburg, VA, for Columbus Day Weekend. We'd like a private cabin with a view that allows dogs (very well behaved Boxer and American Bulldog) but I'm having a REALLY hard time finding anything. We're ok with being any distance within an hour of Virginia Tech. PLEASE HELP!?!?!?!?

I can think of a couple of possibilities although I don't know if any of the places allow dogs.
Mountain Lake in Pembroke. This is where the film "Dirty Dancing" was filmed and they have a few cottages as well as a hotel. It's probably 20 minutes to Blacksburg.

Another possibility is Claytor Lake. I'm not sure how far it is to Blacksburg but definitely within an hour:

Smith Mountain Lake is another possibility but I think it might be more than an hour away.

I would look up on VBRO.com if you haven't already. I'm Virginia Tech grad and can't imagine that people don't have houses up for rent--except maybe during football weekends.
You might try Roanoke, Radford, around the New River, or even down in Wytheville or Grundy.

Virginia Tech play Miami in Blacksburg that weekend and it's a big game and getting a place to stay nearby is likely to be challenging even without the dogs.
Mountain Lake is more than 20 minutes from B'burg. We usually trek up there once a season and from the time you turn off the highway onto the VERY steep, curvy, narrow road it's at least 20 minutes from that point. I can't remember if I have seen dogs there or not.
I agree that searching New River may help since there are a lot of outdoorsy things to do where people would want to bring family and dogs.
Also (this may or may not be a concern to you) being a football weekend, rates in B'burg and Christiansburg are at their peak rate.
