Just reading through these and suddenly saw a new angle on the comment I just made . . . I'm certain DH was referring to my overactive conversational skills. Didn't want you all to get the wrong idea of this timid little southern gal!

I couldn't agree more, BayouGal - I'm a June 23 crab and proud of it.
It looks like we share a knack for research and planning. I'm heading out West next summer for my 45th, The Grand Circle, GTNP and Yellowstone. I must admit your past post have been very insightful and informative, if not down right intellectual…he, he, he!
My birthday always give me the best excuse to plan a trip, I mean one more year in the books is an accomplishment, isn't it!!
I usually take a cruise to the Caribbean, so if I can pull off the road trip out West, do you think I can manage Alaska for my 50TH!?

Okay, I'm not eating til there are 100 replies, lol. The first ever Fodor's hunger strike..
after reading about berries, chocolate, brunches and other buffets around the globe, I'm full anyway. What I wouldn't give for a chocolate crossiant right now.. is there a little icon for pudgy wudgy yet?

I propose meeting at the Paris hotel in Las Vegas~ not to gamble, just to eat and walk it off with our Fodor's approved footwear, then see shows, again, rated to be the best on this board, then have some drinks, then retire to our upgraded suites, where we tuck our svelte and toned bodies into cool 3000 thread count sheets.
The next day? We go to Red Rock canyon, for hikes and photo ops. Later, we rent a boat and cruise the lake, sharing our favorite entertaining threads from here.=D>
Because a lucky member of the group hit a huge jackpot, we are all treated to a spa treatment, including hair and nails. Then our limo arrives, taking us on an evening drive, replete with champagne and caviar(why not).. then we take a helicopter ride to a hillside ranch, where a gourmet meal has been set out in fancy tents, and waiters with those darn Wrangler jeans..
egads, I've spilled my coffee

Walla Walla! And I'm not really a resident anymore- I'm a college student in limbo, LOL. But the "family farm" is near Pine City, and probably 2/3 of my relatives lived in Spokane at one point (or still live there)....So it's fairly accurate to say "I grew up in S.E. Wa". And it's weird...I really didn't appreciate the area until I went away to college I mean, I definitely want to move far, far away- but I now "get" why folks settle down here. Anyone had a similar experience?
Not with E.WA, I mean- with their home towns?

mooselywild~ my dh grew up there(dad was a state trooper) in Spokane. When we left and found jobs up here one summer, we only went back to visit(we had owned a home in the valley for a couple years).
The area just grew too much, concrete and subdivisions.. we wanted to raise our family up here and appreciate the year round recreation, quality of living and space to explore.
While we miss family there, we love them coming up to visit. After the third day of peace and quiet, walks on the beach, sightings of moose, eagles and wildlife, they always say "oh, we understand why you want to live here".
Spokane sure grew the last few years!

Actually, out of curiousity- who here has visited WW? And for which of the following reasons?
A- family
B- business
C- one of those school field trips you've mercifully forgotten?
D- tourism
E- passin' through
And who has never heard of Walla Walla? <Evil, cheesy grin>
