Biltmore Estate with baby?
Hubby and I want to go to the Biltomore Estate for our anniverary. We have a 3 month old infant, our first. Are the house, grounds and staff baby friendly? Are other visitors typically tolerant of babies? Any suggestions on making the visit easy on first time parents and baby?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

We visited there with a kid in a stroller. While, as the previous poster stated, the grounds are open to strollers (not everything is paved) you will want a carrier for the baby in the house. Big house, with big crowds. Some dining options are fancier than others, so make a judgement call.

The house might be hard with a stroller or if you have to stop for diaper changes and feedings. You would have to backtrack through the house to get to a restroom. The house easily takes a few hours to go through. If you were just blowing through it to get to a changing facility, it might take a 10-15 minutes (which can seem like an eternity with a crying baby!) I think if you go prepared you would be alright. The grounds would be fine for a stroller but just keep in mind that most of the outdoor walkways are gravel or river pebbles.

I think the big challenge in the house w/ a stroller would be all the stairways and navigating hallways and crowds - therefore baby in a pack. If you had a fat-tire stroller for the grounds it would probably work ok as they are not all smoothly paved but still I think baby in a pack would work better all around.

If the crowds are anything like they were on the day we visited, carrying a baby on that tour could be grueling. I found the tour very poorly orchestrated which led to loooong lines of people moving imperceptively from room to room. We went on a weekend when it was particularly crowded. Check around to see when crowds are lightest and go then.
