FYI
The drunk lawyer killed the Dr (or teacher) cyclist in Santa Rosa. He had numerous dui's and suspended licence. I think he is headed to S. Q.
Another drunk driver killed a Stanford PhD candidate(I think) and permanately maimed his lady friend a few months prior to that (Hw1 12 e to Sonoma)Both on bikes training for a triathlon.
Just a month prior to the lawyer, someone else killed a woman while she was attempting to ride back to Lake County.
There are many safe roads to bike but there are also dangerous ones. Doesn't matter how safe they are if there's a drunk loose in a 6000lb car.
Check santarosapressdemocrat.com for the bike stories.

Faina - LOL!
Black humor is not appreciated by everyone!
On a more serious note: it really doesn't matter whether the driver or the biker is crocked or not.
One of the worst car vs biker(s) tragedies here in the South Bay happened a number of years ago when travelling 101 was still along the Monterey Highway with its numerous stop lights. A girl, driving an SUV, turned her attention away from the road (forget the exact reason, something like to put on lipstick or to change a music tape) - in those seconds when she was not watching the road, she wiped out four elderly cyclists. Killed them all.
So many young people were also killed driving that stretch of 101 that it was named "Blood Alley".
Personally, I hate those motorbikers who zip between the lanes - on the freeway no less!
Drive safely, friends! Bike safely, friends!

In some forums we call this "thread drift". Yes, it is highly amusing, but if someone new comes in and really wants to know about "Biking to Sonoma Wineries" he/she has to wade through a bunch of personal jokes. Why not split off to do your own "funny stories about biking to Sonoma wineries"? And leave the original thread intace.
(Is there monitoring by a staff member here, who could arrange that?)

westie....try this site. It may give you some better tips: www.bikesonoma.org/
I prefer biking in Napa Valley as most of the roads have bigger shoulders and you have a lot of "Cross" roads.
and if you can get to Ravenswood....
Now I'll go to my room and punish myself.
