In terms of room quality and property amenities (pools, spas, onsite dining etc) the Four Seasons Hualalai is my favorite. It's the place to go if being pampered takes precedence over everything else. But the atmosphere there can be a bit pretentious for some people. Seems like every time you turn around there are staff members on golf carts, and/or yapping into walkie-talkies etc. It doesn't really bother me, but my SO absolutely hates the place because of this.
For relaxing/beachbumming vacations, the Mauna Kea and Hapuna Beach Prince are my favs. They have the two best white sand beaches on the island, and great snorkeling right off the coast. Both resorts are under the same ownership (Japanese) and service is usually stellar.
