Beware of advertised skin cremes and cleansers

What a rash of ads have been appearing here. Just a word of caution -- apparently the use of any of these products will cause extreme brain damage, to the point of not even being able to recognize things like "do not adverstise" when you register on websites. You've been warned.

It's worse than you think NP. Just seeing all the titles clogging the top of the list in the morning can cause adverse side effects.

nausea, disgust, seizure, uncontrolled ticsetc. - the list is too long to even post here.

Seeing the ads also causes compulsive writing of the words "Reported" and "Blatant spam," as well as clicking on yellow triangles.

This morning I counted 11 ads in the top 25 posts on the US.
Thankfully, they're all gone, but this is getting to be repeated far too often.

Use will also cause you to speak in gibberish - similar to the ads - rather then in normal English.

I have written to the editors several times asking them to add some sort of filter that would identify these posts and either not post them at all or require approval by an editor before posting.

Sorry - the ones that really bother me are those advertising good quality fake documents - including passports, licenses, birth certificates, etc. As if it's not easy enough for terrorists to get into the country.

IMHO those should be reported to the FBI so they can track them down and shut them down.

Now can anyone explain the triangle braggers that find a post so offensive that they top to offensive thread to brag that they reported, hit the triangle. What joy is there in that? Hitting a triangle and reporting and telling us about it doesn't make you special. Just a topper of offensive threads.

We have already been instructed that this thing will continue because, unlike the lounge, just anybody can register and then post something. You'd think there was some sort of mechanism which could be employed that uses certain phrases or words to block posts.

I check the forums around 10 Pacific time and delete as many of those ads as I see. Some show up here, but most have been in the U.S. forum.

Maybe their is an algorythm that can delete the "lounge' mentions on travel forums. Woo frikkin' hop - you are one of the elite loungettes - a cloistered secret community. There should be a ban on any mention of that snake pit.

IMD - you look 10 years younger!

I agree. Such action is despicable. It's right up there with the people who post responses on threads just to run down the people who started those threads. Anyway, such action doesn't top the offensive threads -- but you knew that didn't you? In fact, I guess that's why you commented on THIS thread because you wanted to top it, even though you find it offensive. So YOU did what you scorn others for doing (even when they didn't do it, but you did) -- topping offensive threads Too funny. By the way, who said I triangled? I've learned those ad posts get deleted promptly without doing so.

If someone triangles then posts "reported" to a thread that is already at or near the top of the list I have no issues. It does not change the order in any meaningful way and lets others know it's already been reported.

If they bump something up that's below the top 10-15, then it's not appropriate.

Well since I go on Fodors while I'm breakfasting in the last couple of weeks I often get to the US forum to find all of the 5 "featured" posts - as well as several others among the top 10 are ads - many silly and some offensive.

I admit I often triangle without saying so - as it's just one step less.

Sour grapes for those that used to be able to haunt the "hallowed grounds" of the Lounge and can no longer do so because they changed their screen name after the cutoff date. Banned, quit...who knows??

The reason I reply with the word "Reported" is to assure everyone else that the post has been Triangled. I'm not bragging in any way, shape, or form -- I just don't anyone else to wonder, as I do, "Has this been reported already, or should I report it myself?"

Thank you Inaka, this Internet thing is more intrusive than I thought.

Stop being so sensible, PaulRabe.

The numbers of ads have gone beyond annoying.
