Best way to see Rodeo Drive, celebrity homes, etc: tour or on our own?
We know we want to visit Beverly Hills, see celebrity homes, see Rodeo Drive, and some famous LA sights; walk of fame, etc. Would it be better to take a tour or try and do it on our own? And which tour group? We will be staying a couple of nights at the Sheraton @ Universal City, then to Hermosa. Which area would be better to see these sights from? Thanks for any suggestions.

I'd recommend a day tour. The places you want to see are spread apart but can be done in a day on a tour. You won't get in-depth investigation but will see all the popular stuff.
I did this years ago before I moved to So Cal, so I don't know how much it costs or which tour companies to recommend.

I've done the self-drive w/ handy map of the stars homes version. I don't recommend that.
On our budget expedition, we saw lots of fences or blocked views. The highlight was a crazy star struck person that took my picture when I pulled up in front of the house. When she realized I was just another tourist, you could see the disappointment on her face.
