Best Time to Visit Colorado?
Hello Fodorites,
I'd like to visit Boulder and the Ft. Greene area this year (it's one of the areas of the country I'm considering for relocation).
I'm eager to go, but it's still winter. I was wondering when is the best time to go?When does spring generally arrive? I'm not a skiier, but enjoy hikes and nature.
Thank you for your feedback.

Fall is my favorite season. I love hiking in the fall when the days are warm and sunny. I agree that September is the best time for a visit. Snow is still possible, but usually melts fast.
If you want to visit earlier, I agree with martym and would wait until June.

Great - thanks for your repplies.
One other question - if my final destination is Boulder, is it possible to get a taxi from the Denver airport?
(I want to avoid renting a car, and pretty much stay in the Boulder area).
How long a ride and how much $?
Thanks

Come on people, Colorado is pretty nice most of the time -- except for the past three months. BUT Fall is great but April and May are very nice. In the Spring hiking is going to be limited to the foothills and lower elevations. But still doable. June is very nice in the mountains because the spring flowers are in bloom and a great time to hike.
Do you bike ????
Boulder is about an hour and would be expensive via cab. However, buses are frequent because of the student population. I think it is every 30 min but check the schedule at RTD-Denver.com and look for regional buses. There are also shuttles that run to Boulder.

I agree that a taxi would be expensive to get from the airport to Boulder. There is public transportation though. For $10 one way you can catch a RTD (regional transportation district) bus that will take you and your luggage right from the airport to Boulder (Route #AB)with a few stops at some "park and rides" along the way. The RTD has a booth in the main terminal at the airport. If your hotel in Boulder is anywhere near one of the route AB bus stops in Boulder, you'd be golden.
