Best steak in New York?

Where can I go for the best steak in New York City?

I've heard great things about Peter Luger's. Any comments would be appreciated. Is it difficult to get a reservation there (one month in advance)?

Thank you.

Try www.newyork.citysearch.com. I think they have a category of best steaks in New York. I've eaten at Bobby Van's which was amazing. It's located in midtown.

you are in luck!

there is a Ponderosa steak house in Manhattan that serves the best steak I've ever had...they also have really good wings and mac & cheese

yummy!

This topic has come up billions and billions of times before. Into the search box on this page type "peter luger" and read some of those threads.

Peter Luger's IS the best but the atmosphere is a bit lacking. It is actually in Williamsburg, Bklyn.

My other favorites are the Old Homestead down in the meat districton 9th Ave of Manhattan. Smith & Wollensky on 3rd Ave & 50 St.

Some like Palm but I didn't care for them.

If you are calling a month in advance there should be no problem getting dinner reservations.

I arrived in New York on May 1st last year. One of the first things I did was call Peter Luger's to make a reservation for two people. I was open for any time in the next month, but all I could get was something like 3 or 4 in the afternoon. Nothing later for the entire month. So I'd suggest if you want to go you call at least two months ahead.
