GoTravel, do you mean for wishful thinking? Or are they miraculously going to reopen somewhere else?
One of the saddest sights in town is that dreary Chase logo where the 2nd Ave Deli used to be... their pastrami beats Katz's hands down!

yes, ggreen, the 2nd Ave Deli will reopen at 33rd and 3rd (really - thoity thoid and thoid!) this fall - run by Abe Liebwohl's relatives - his brother and children, I think.
I know what you mean about the Chase logo - I used to live across the street from there - the change in the east village is still very disconcerting!

Wow, who knew? Here's an article from Jan '07: www.nysun.com/article/46093. Looks like the space is on 33rd between Lex and 3rd; the Community Board appears to be approving... Mmm! Can't wait! (Though I guess my arteries can LOL.)

carlota, there are a couple of locations, but I think the most well known is the one on the northeast corner of 6th Ave and 8th Street in the Village.
Other locations are on 8th Ave in Hell's Kitchen and Broadway in the 70's in the Upper West Side...
There are also other "Papaya" hot dog vendors - they look the same as Gray's but are not the same dog!
