Best restaurant Manhattan Beach Los Angeles LAX
Best restaurant Manhattan Beach Los Angeles LAX
We're staying at the Hilton LAX and they have free transportation to 3 places:
1. Manhattan Beach Pier
2. Manhattan Village
3. El Segundo Plaza
So we are going to have to get dinner at one of these locations. Can someone recommend the best restaurant in one or all three of these locations? We'd like authentic Italian if possible, but we're open to anything that's safe (ie, no taco stands or hole in the wall joints since we have an international flight the next morning, don't want to take any chances.)
We also don't want to walk very far, so it would have to be in close proximity.
Thanks!!
PS* Not to be a food snob, but we prefer non-chain restaurants, something unique!

Although the menus are not entirely Italian, try Mangiamo or Talia's in Manhattan Beach (both near the Pier):

There are several other very good restaurants in MB within walking distance of the Pier. If you'd consider Greek, Japanese, Cal-Mediterranean, steaks/seafood, etc., I can give you a list.
Dining in Manhattan Village and El Segundo Plaza is mostly chains with the exception of China Grill in MV and La Serena (Mexican) in ESP.
We're definitely not food snobs and eat often at L.A. Food Show in MV and Salt Creek Grill in ESP. L.A. Food Show was started by the same two guys who started California Pizza Kitchen, but the Food Show menu has no pizza. We've only had great lunches at La Serena in ESP because the line for dinner is always out the door.

Go to the pier area, for nice walking pre- and post-dinner along the beach path.
Try Mama D's, a couple of blocks up from the pier. It's very small and very popular, so usually a line at dinnertime. It's a fun Italian family restaurant with very good food and prices IMHO.
There are a number of restaurants on the street that leads down to the pier. You can probably find whatever you want there. We like Mama D's and another one up the street from there, on the corner, called the Keg (or something like that).

You requested the best, and my favorite Italian restaurant is Mangiamo Restaurant. It's just up a few doors from the Pier. It would be best to phone for reservations from your hotel or before you leave home, if you are there Th-Sat., or go early. Talia's is owned by the same local owner, is tiny, hip. Both restaurants have been in town over 25 years.
Dress code in the beach cities is nice casual.
