It's been years, but without a doubt, in my opinion, the best restaurant in the U.S. is Bern's Steak House in Tampa. I think that calling it a steak house isn't quite accurate, as they also have world-class seafood. If you are into wines, their wine list is the size of a small phone book...no kidding! Everything is fresh and from the best point of origin anywhere in the world. For example, the lobster I had was flown in from S. Africa, not Maine. They have their own herb garden; all of their steaks are aged to perfection, and their desserts are out of this world!
I will advise you that when I was there, the restaurant looked horrible from the outside, and it isn't in the best part of town. But the interior was opulent, and it's not like you'd be taking your life into your hands by going there.
I'd check to see if it's still there & if the quality is still the same. But if it is, I'd definitely recommend it!
Enjoy!
