Best place for coffee on the BI
we will be on the BI in the summer near Waikoloa and would appreciate some local knowledge for places to get Kona coffee at a good price. Here in the Chi. area its about $45.00 per pound. Can I do better somewhere on the BI? Thanks.

Absolutely. Even in the grocery stores (e.g. KTA) pure Kona coffee is about 1/4 - 1/2 that price. And it's much fresher/better than the mainland stuff. The BI also has a Wal-Mart (in Kona) with some crazy prices on Kona coffee.
You can also visit one of the coffee plantations on the island, where they sell even fresher stuff for a bit more money. Most of these are in South Kona, on the slopes of Mauna Loa.

Just recently Starbucks increased its oders of Kona coffee. I have been told that they have pretty musch cornered the market, and to expect price increases everywhere, even on the BI. But it will still be cheaper than you are paying in Chicago!

Aloha all,
First time on BI we purchased Hawaiian Mountain Gold from the Ferrari Coffee Plantation. They do tours of the original plantation home overlooking the town of Kona.
I'm in the Chicago area (Antioch) and I still order from them... $20 per pound... 100%... that INCLUDES shipping... Fed Ex Priority... I ordered some a week ago Saturday, and it was here on Tuesday.
Nothing beats a cup of Kona! Well, almost nothing.
