Cancun is still reeling from hurricane Wilma, but there are plenty of other wonderful areas just outside of Cancun that were untouched.

Look at Playa del Carmen, Akumal, Tulum and Puerto Morelos.

You may get more help if you post this on the Latin America, rather than US, board.

I also recommend going down the coast; Cancun is not so great for a little one, but you would love the beaches farther down (not so affected by the hurricane). Take her to Crococun (hokey, but educational and my kids just loved it).

My sister and her family spent a week in Ocho Rios in Dec. and loved it. They were originally going to Cancun but were very glad the hurricanes made them change their plans and destination.

I would've wholeheartedly endorsed Cancun before Wilma, and by July it may be well on its way to recovery, but Diana gave you excellent advice...

I also agree with Diana...

What type of hotel are you looking for?
There are many excellent options from small family-run hotels to large, mega All-Inclusives.

Go a little more southern to Playa del Carmen, nice little village, already nicely restored after Wilma.
You can make a boatexcursion to Cozumel, or shopping by bus (1 hr.) to Cancun.
Many nice resorthotels on the beach.

It's hard to say when they will be at fully operational. They may accept guests even though they are not completely finished with repairs. Just something to keep in mind.

In Playacar, just south of PDC, there are a lot of AIs.
