Best Lula on Kauai
Hello Experts,
My Husband and I will be in Kauai for 8 nights in October. We will be staying at the Marriott in Lihue. We are considering a Lula one night.
Which should we choose?
The Hyatt looks good - any reviews?
Thanks for your help!

Lula? Luau?
Smith's is pretty well known and we enjoyed that. It is really not authentic but it's still fun:

I think the Sheraton has one oceanfront:

Look into the Coconut Beach Luau before you book any other. It's received awards for their luau.

I've seen half a dozen Luau's at the Grand Hyatt from our balcony there, and it's a great show. It's always been held oceanfront, with Shipwreck beach and the Rock in the background. We order room service on Thursday night, and they spread a white tablecloth on the patio table for our dinner, and we enjoy the show for free. We plan to do this in 10 days.
Hopefully: Go early and stroll the grounds and lagoons of the hotel before the show begins. The Hyatt has a completely different pool area, than the Marriott. It will be about a 25 minute drive from Lihue.
PS Our friends attended two weeks ago and loved the food too.

We went to Smith's luau five years ago -- I'd go back for the after-dinner show at the outdoor theatre, but the meal experience was kind of cheesy IMO.
About 500 of us ate at long tables in a big tent; it reminded me of a school cafeteria.
I'd look for one on a beach.

Aloha from Kaua`i!
The lu`au at you mention is at Kilohana Plantation (think Gaylord's Restaurant), in Puhi.
Originally conceived (and constructed) by NCL, and open only to passengers on their 3 inter-island cruise ships. Now that NCL has only one ship operating in the islands, the lu`au is open to the public. Food comes from the Gaylord Restaurant kitchen -- very good, and plentiful:
