THE BEST POOL ON THE ISLAND WILL BE THE HILTON, WE JUST GOT BACK FROM SPRING BREAK. BEST BEACH TOO. WE LOVED THE BEACH AT THE KAHALA MANDRIAN. THE POOL WAS BEACH FRONT BUT NO BIG DEAL, LARGE OVAL SHAPE..HAVE FUN

Best pool for us, Turtle Bay Resort on the North Shore. 2 pools & jacuzzi, oceanfront..you can actually see the ocean while in the pools, no gardens or decor blocking. They had a reasonably priced bar, $4 beers, 6-7 cocktails). The largest pool isn't heated, but not necessary, 2nd pool a lil smaller, heated and had a small waterslide. They have a nice beach on the other side of the resort with a snorkeling, but we thought the beach at Hilton was better for swimming. We went to the Hilton one day and their pool was packed. You could just about swim laps at Turtle Bay, far less crowded, but it may depend on the time of year. (We were there last week). See their website for some of those virtual pics.

We stayed at the Hilton. Pool is great. Good luck. BTW the regulars on this board have learned to ignore Rusty. He just loves to provoke. Fodors editors know of him too. Good luck with your search. And the north shore idea is a good one to me.

Just to let Vegassurfer know, I provided my opinion (which seconded Pumpy's opinion) based on the information that you originally provided. Don't come back after the fact and imply that you my opinion was not valid because of infomation that YOU chose not to disclose.

Vegassurfer, sorry that you felt you had to explain your preference for a pool! Many people prefer to swim in a pool, either because they are not strong swimmers or they may have a fear of sharks, whether that makes sense or not. Or maybe they don't like saltwater...... whatever... Hope you will have a wonderful time on Oahu with your girlfriend..... and if you stay at the HHV, the beach is fabulous there, whether you stick a toe in the water or not!

For you, Rusty:
"Message: Thanks for the replys. It has been helpful and just to let Rusty know, my girl friend is handicapped and is afraid to swim in the ocean. That is why I was asking about a good pool."
You interpret that however you want, Rusty. I interpret it as a preference for a pool. Have a nice evening.

On first trip to Oahu, I eagerly anticipated a swim in the ocean, only to arrive and find that Waikiki beach was CLOSED (unless you wre crazy) due to jellyfish infestation. So, having an oceanfront pool was a relief.
Unfortunately, there are no particularly great (i.e. manmade waterslides, lagoons, etc) pools in Honolulu. The one at HHV is in the most interesting setting, IMHO.
