Yes, I use that feature, (clicking on someones screen name) but often
I have to weed through a plethora of posts to just find a simple review of a place. I just was saying that I like how you can find a hotel/place review very quickly on tripadvisor.

So many other forums have a better format for posting and finding information. I love fodors and fodorites, don't get me wrong but the format is really dated.

I could be wrong, but I thought Embassy Suites was smack in the middle of the massive construction near International Market Place?

Embassy is connected to Waikiki Beach walk, a new development.

this is my review:

We stayed here 4 nights.

As posted by me on Tripadvisor:
"Ok, first~ you drive up to check in, and drop your car off. You are in like an entrance to a parking garage, but NO! This is the "Lobby"! For real! You walk past the parked cars and taxis, and this is there is the check in desk is, outside, next to the parked cars. WEIRD. Outside, next to the parked cars!

No atmosphere at all!

Good: I Like the suite set up, our partial ocean view was between two construction site, above the pool. There was a 'kitchen' area with mini frig.

We liked the Large rooms, bathroom was big.
Roy's restaurant was next to the elevator, we dined there once and sat overlooking a busy street. (ugggg)

"The Beachwalk" was attached to the hotel was nice. Shops and restaurants. ABC was across the street, near our elevator: ...convenient!!

Morning breakfast buffet was included our rate, and was great. Food was good.

Bad:

The huge construction site next door. I read this online, but it did NOT sink in:

Hello: Read my lips: HUGE CONSTRUCTION SITE NEXT DOOR......!!! Within your whole visual realm. It was Ugly.

This was ALL that we saw when we went onto our balcony and all we heard come Monday morning! We went to the pool and heard jack hammering!!!! Do NOT stay here if you want peace and quiet. Across the street was another hotel remodeling. (Outrigger Reef)
We would leave the hotel and pray nothing would fall on the car in between the two construction sites!

I wished we had stayed elsewhere. I apologized to my dh because I was in charge of hotels.

Embassy is behind another hotel that is ON the beach. (Halelukilani)

There are a LOT of children and their parents at this hotel.
The one day we spent at the pool~ FILLED WITH CHILDREN.
I don't dislike kids, but it was not our scene.

If you have kids and don't mind construction sounds~ this is your Hotel!"

We stayed May 3-8, 2008.

Thank you beachkomer- That is exactly what someone else said about Embassy Suites, and basically anything else in that area.

Well, I didn't know either about the construction by the Embassy in Waikiki and I watch the boards religiously...I thought!

Sorry to spell that hotel wrong.
Guess you can tell I can't afford
to stay there!

The entire area at and near Waikiki Beachwalk has had major construction for a couple of years now.

Right now there is construction at Outrigger Reef on the Beach & the Trump Tower is still under construction.

But it is mostly during the day. So if you are up and around the island during the day it shouldn't bother you.
