The best hot dogs in New York City are the grilled ones at Katz's on Houston Street. I believe they are made specially for the deli by Sabrett's.

Leanna I don't think you've been to PINK'S recently. Yuk! They also sell Pink's hot dogs at the Planet Hollywood/Aladdin casino in Las Vegas, but I don't think they sell too many at $8.50 a dog.

I visited dowtown Tampa, Florida where I found a great hot dog stand "Sodie's Hot Dogs" corner of East Madison St. and N. Franklin St. Hot dogs are grilled to your specification and served on a fresh grilled bakery bun. A variety of condiments were in a "serve yourself" cooler chest which included homemade red hot chili pepper and various types of mustard. The owner "Sodie" I find to be very sociable and customer friendly. Her Italian sausages are out of this world, grilled with onions and peppers. Great place.

Stevensville, Michigan - Red, Hot & Rare. MMMMMM. My mouth is watering just thinking of them. They've got great fries, too!

Here in North CA, I would pick Top Dog in Berkeley. There are two there, both by the UC Campus. There are other branches in Oakland and one in San Jose. Although the Berkeley ones seem better.

Oh and the last time I was in NYC, which was over 25 years ago, I had the grilled hot dogs at Katz. They were great and I'm glad they haven't changed.
