Which is the best route to drive - the NY Thruway (90 & 87) from Buffalo to Manhattan, or the Thruway from Buffalo to Syracuse, then south on 81 and then 80 East to NYC? I'd like to get there fast as possible. Thanks for any advice.

The AAA routes you the 81 to 80 way.

Try Map Quest, it should get you right to the hotel door.

The Thruway to 81 to 80 route is shorter and can be quicker than taking the Thruway all the way down. I've done both and have saved about 15-20 minutes doing the 81 route. Sometimes, though, even though it is shorter, the 81 route won't save any time at all - just depends on traffic.

Thanks for the replies. Actually the AAA routes me along 90 all the way, and mapquest gave me the 81 - 80 route.
