Berkshires, Lenox and surrounding areas
From Long Island NY and will be spending a few days mid-week in the Lenox,Mass.(Berkshires)area. Would like a suggestion for a place between Lenox and homebase for us in Mass., Ct., or NY for 1 or 2 weekend nites on the way home in 2 weeks. Very short notice. Thanks

I am from LI Live in NYC now, go to Lenox often etc BUT the problem is that LI is only (well, if its Nassau) about 4 hrs from Lenox. You could stop in Litchfield Co Ct ie Lakeville, Kent, Washington, but they are only about 1 1/2hrs away. Beautiful though. Lake waramug is lovely, Kent Falls pretty. Thereafter, you really need to stay in Westchester & I am not familiar with places to stop except poss. Ridgefield which I hear is a chariming old town with at least one wel-known Inn. Hope this helps.

Thank you for your quick response...actually we were trying to extend our vacation for a few days, if we could find some place, on the way back to LI even if it is only 20 mins away from Lee-Lenox area. Ct, NY or Mass. is
OK. Any names of places would be appreciated...if they are available at
this late date.
Thanks

Some of my suggestions depend on your budget. For ex., Kent is very nice,
there are many nice looking b & bs in or near the town but I have only seen from outside. Washington is a lovely town:
Lake Waramug is great. Some b & bs again no direct experience. On the lake is Hopkins Inn, might be tough to get res. now, Birches (very exp.), likewise the Boulders Inn. In Sharon, which is a nice loc too with a summer stock & good driving distance to lots of nice stuff, has a cheap clean motel. My best reommendation--friends stayed there--is the Interlocken Inn. Large modernplace
with lake on grounds, but lousy food.
Eat at Woodlands Restaurant. you can drive to Kent from there to see the falls, lake waramug--drive around?--
lunch in New Preston at Olivas or DOcs--
see the perfect little town of Wahington--see the Green & perhaps eat at the snazzy Mayflower Inn.
There is a Litchfield Hills Chamber of Commerce. PS name is not really May; also live p/t in Washington so I have direct knowledge. Have fun & good weather!
