Belfast Maine Dining

We'll be staying in Belfast for a week in mid August. We haven't been to Belfast since two years ago and I'm wondering if there are any new restaurants in the area (Camden to Searsport or so)that might be worth trying out. $$$ isn't really an issue if the experience is worth it.

Mid August is my favorite time to visit Maine mainly because the local sweet corn and the wild blueberries are in season.

I saw Steven King at Darby's last time we were there...that was amusing...I had to resist sneaking up behind him and going "BOO"..I figured I owe him a good scare ;>)

A recent issue of Down East magazine mentioned two in Belfast that may or not be new. The Twilight Cafe and the Penobscot Bay Inn restaurant which the article said was under new ownership.

Thanks for the tip je. We've eaten at and love the Twilight Cafe and make it a point to dine there every time we visit Belfast.

I'll have to look into the PBI.

Just wanna mention John's Handmade Ice Cream if you happen to take a ride on Route 3 past Lake St. George.

If your drive to Belfast takes you up Route 1 through Thomaston/Rockland area, stop at Thomaston Grocery on Main St. and pick up one of "Amy's Pies". Call ahead maybe they'll save you a blueberry, but the chocolate cream is killer, too.

HI!
We're considering Belfast next summer. We have 2 young children (by then they will be 3 and almost 6). How was your trip this past August? I don't know if you were traveling with children but would love to know if there were any kid-friendly places you would recommend?
Thanks!
Cindy

I'm not the authority on kid friendly places but one that I have to suggest is:

http://www.penobscotmarinemuseum.org/

They seemed to have lots of fun things for the kids to do.

There's also a nice local beach ar Steamboat Landing just north of Searsport. It is on a bay so there aren't a lot of large wave. A very scenic place to beachcomb and enjoy yhe ocean without a crowd ever.
