Been to the KGB Bar in NYC? Need quick advice
We will be in NYC this weekend and are thinking of adding a reading at the KGB Bar to our plans. We are 2 friends with our high school age girls with us that are avid readers and writers. Ever been there? The writers that are speaking the night we want to go are Judy Goldschmidt and Micol Ostow. We want something cool and unusual to do and this sounds good. Any advice appreciated. Thanks!

KGB is a lot of fun and it's in a perfectly safe neighborhood. I've been many times, most recently last July for a friend's reading, and it's always an experience.
Another suggestion: The Nuyorican Cafe, which isn't far from KGB and can/should be visited on the same night.

(One thing -- are you sure KGB admits under 21? I'm not sure; you might want to call first. Same with Nuyorican.)

Yes, you should call again, the night you intend to go. Get the person's name if he/she says it's okay. New York has been cracking down on underage people in bars due to some high-profile problems in Chelsea (and one big one in SoHo).
