It is rare to see a bear in Yellowstone. You are in luck if you do.
If you want to see bears--even lots of grizzlies-- go to Glacier. They are seen quite often if you get off the road just a bit. Had friends stay at Many Glacier Lodge on the east side and saw some grizzlies quite close to the lodge. They are seen behind the visitor center at Logan Pass sometimes too. We had browns passing through our campground in two different years.

I've seen a grizzly in Yellowstone. We always hear about bears in campgrounds. Usually it's the smaller campgrounds.
Take precautions. Bears are there. Here is a link to a message board that is very active on Yellowstone:

We just returned from a week in YNP and GT. We saw bears 5 times from the roads. Two individual blacks, one black with 2 cubs, one lone grizzly and one grizzly sow with cub. Others saw 3 other grizzlies take a kill away from the sow in the Lamar Valley. They are definitely there. The volunteer at Tower told us the grizzly and cub we saw near Lamar River is a regular at the Slough Creek campground. Follow the bear advice closely. Too many people were getting way too close.
