Beach or Spa suggestion needed

My wife and I will be going to San Diego in mid November on business and would like to go somewhere for a week before or after. Ideally a nice beach with good weather or a health Spa place where you give them a lot of money and they help you get fit and lose weight. All suggestions would be appreciated. Budget: looking for something good as we don't take many vacations.
Thanks.

Been to both La Costa Resort and Spa and Rancho la Puerto and both are somewhat expensive but super great properties..
I live in SD and get e-mail specials for La Costa and the latest for November was $399 for a lovely room and 2 spa treatments..
They just did a major renovations and the property is beautiful.
Budget and spa usually don't go together..
Glen Ivy Springs north of Temecula has a budget style spa and that has wonderful mud baths but its not on the beach.
Hotel Del Coronado has a lovely beach and limited spa..maybe you can get a deal on Expedia.
What is your budget?

TT, alan implies that he has no budget (meaning cost is not a factor).

Thanks for the advice. Yes my budget is flexible, but I also know that more expensive doesn't always mean better. Has anyone heard of Cal-a-Vie and also Golder Door spas near San Diego? I will look into the other ones you have suggested. Thanks again.

Hey frank and beans..
I threw in the Glen Ivy Springs for the budget spa but I see that alan is looking at Golden Door..that is HUGE $$..but wonderful!
Rancho la Puerta is owned by the same people..
Cal-a Vie is pricey too and that is where Oprah goes..
